She has exams all this week in the afternoon......was wondering what happens if...

a. She becomes too ill to go in

b. She fails the ones she sits because she is too ill to do the exam properly?

Just that really....

make sure whatever happens mum gets a doctors note which can be used a)if she doesn't do the exam and b)if she sits exam and does worse than expected.
I knew someone last year who vomited in school just before exam but did okay as they could use other papers and coursework to give her a grade

Whizzz · 06/06/2007 18:18

yes - she will need to get a doctors note - if in doubt ask advice from the schools exam co ordinator as they are the one that has to send it off to the exam board

Blandmum · 06/06/2007 18:20

Doctors note is essential and the school will not be able to do much (if anything at all) without it

Thanks, will let her know.....really bad timing for her.....

The exam officer should submit a "special consideration" form to exam boards.

All teachers are asked to put in predicted or expected grade of student. This is then used for student's GCSE grade. This is why we have mock exams.

Don't worry, happens every year. She must have a docs note though

mankyscotslass · 08/06/2007 08:24

Thanks, she got a note from the doctor, who charged her £10 for the pleasure!!
Not sure how she will do if it goes on coursework and teacher assessment....all the teachers said she was very bright but this year had been "distracted" (means boy mad)and would have to pull her socks up after the mocks.....so i hope she has done enough as she only really seemed to "get" that she may not get what she needed for college a couple of months ago....

I read somewhere that you get (basically) extra marks if your cat dies, so she should be fine

I had to do this sorts of thing in my days as exam offcier- sometimes students missed entire exams. If that happens her predicated grade is considered and the school are asked to provide the names of 2 students just above her in ability and 2 students just below. From that they work out her grade.....

Tovik · 08/06/2007 08:41

vitamin c .. get it down her ..

mankyscotslass · 08/06/2007 08:45

A rocket up her previously may be more appropriate!!

She needs a doctor's note and then a chat with the exam officer at her school.

NoodleStroodle · 08/06/2007 08:49

fizzbuzz · 08/06/2007 17:26

mankyscotslass · 08/06/2007 18:37
