No revision guides for current History GCSE syllabus?

The available revision guides for the history topics are the old titles. For example one current topic is 1848-1948 medicine. But old syllabus was medicine from 1250 to present. Other topics are similar but again span slightly different years.
I’m wondering if your DCs have still used them as there’ll be some similarities?

Search on Amazon. We needed to hunt to find the right ones, but they were available for this summer's exams just gone.

^ this, typed in GCSE history revision guides and scores popped up for the new 9-1 specs. For all subjects I would not use any revision guides or books aimed at the old specs.

Yep, same here, got the right revision guides from Amazon for all the June exams just gone for the Edexcel History 9-1 course options. They're out there, you just have to sort through them to avoid the ones that are now out of date.

How bizarre because I can’t find any if the four topics.

  1. History - a divided union: civil rights in the USA, 1945-74
  2. History - the USA, 1918-41
  3. history - changes in medicine, c1848-c1948
  4. history - Germany: development of dictatorship, 1918-45

All edexcel iGCSE 9-1

History teacher. There’s plenty of revision guides for the new 9-1 specs. Keep searching and you’ll find them.

DS3 didn't have revision guides for America or WW1 topics for his just taken 9-1 exams. None were published in time. That was GCSE AQA though, so I'm not surprised. Hopefully you'll get some by Christmas.

DumbledoresApprentice · 20/08/2018 17:28

Cross posted. Sorry, I thought you were asking about GCSE. I don’t know if the revision guides will be as readily available for the iGCSE. It’s possible that there will be far fewer resources available compared to GCSE.

On Amazon too...

I don't know specifically about history igcse but when my DC were doing the new specs some of the guides weren't out until later in the year. I don't know if my DC are the ones out of the ordinary but afaik none of their classmates were revising at this early stage and the books came out in plenty of time

Stickerrocks · 20/08/2018 19:51

We found some books on Amazon by Tim Jenner and David Ferriby which were very good (well, we'll find out on Thursday). They were releasing them in phases. they were aimed at GCSEs, but some topics may overlap. There were similar issues with RS as well, because there are so many variants.

Keel · 21/08/2018 01:14

I'm needing aqa gcse history with power and the people as topic replacement for medicine. Proving nigh on impossible to get. All the text books including new 9-1 spec ones seem to focus on medicine.

Keel · 22/08/2018 23:43

Thank you Dumbledore. I will have a look

NotDonna · 23/08/2018 22:05

Yes, there’s quite a few GCSE 9-1 available but no I gcse. Don’t know why the school isn’t doing regular GCSEs. But that’s another thread!
