West London covers quite a wide area, any specifics?

fedda · 02/06/2007 13:08

To be honest, no because I'm looking for good schools and I'm trying to look into a wide choice and even schools outside London which are not too far and my child could get just taking a bus or a train. We are not religious so we already are limited with our choice. We are thinking of a good state school rather then a private school.

I too live in W London so I know exactly how you feel.
I?m afraid to say that there?re no above average comp schools in the area if you are atheist.

There?re seems to be some good schools in Drayton, Langley and Slough but with very small catchments?.
If you can?t move to the right area, only option would be the selective ones like the followings:

Private schools like Latymer do offer scholarships.
State comp schools like Camden and Marylebone offer places if your child is a girl and musically talented.
Or go for academically selective grammar schools like Tiffin (small train journey from Richmond), Henrietta Barnet (girls).

Thank you very much for your replies. I have a boy so I'm aware that there are more choices for the girls. I'm thinking of Tiffings boys' school, isleworth and Soyon School, Shene school, Orleans Park school and Heathland school. Does anyone know whether they are good schools and which school would they recommend? Thank you.
