How early can I apply? I want to get in quick. Our council website isn't giving us a date yet.

Though you know quicker doesn’t mean you have a higher priority, don’t you?

Application open dates will vary from area to area but I think are usually no later than around the time that autumn term starts.But why do you want to get in early? Are you going away or are worried you'll forget to do it later on in the process?

What do you mean get in quick? It makes no difference.

Getting in quick gives you no.advantags over the person who submits their application 5 minutes before the closing deadline.

If you have a choice of schools, it would be better to wait until after the open days to make a decision about your priority choices.

Most CCs have online applications which won't open til September.

Why do you want to 'get in quick?' Places are awarded according to the criteria of each school, and everyone who meets the first deadline will be considered together. It's not first come, first served.

As long as you apply before the deadline, there is no advantage in applying early in terms of whether younwill qualify for a place - that is all down to how well you fit the entrance criteria. (Though there might be some advantage to you, simply by knowing you've done it, and so you don't have to think about it again).

Do make sure you submit properly - consider screenshotting, and keep all emails!

Yes, I know it gives us no advantages, but I have ASC and crap executive function, and if I don't do it asap, I might forget altogether. Also, it'll stop me worrying about forgetting, which I have been for about a month. Our first choice is such a small intake, I don't want to be a late applicant.

No need to get in quick. If you meet the criteria you get a place, if you don’t you dont.

I did this as I was so worried about forgetting! I then changed my preferences several times before the cut-off in October.

You get sent lots of reminders and if you are on FB there is always a annoying helpful person like me who posts a reminder at deadline time.

Have you open days coming up in the new term? That will prompt you.

And keep an eye on here, there are always lots of posts around submission time.

Our first choice does tours, I've already been on one! Our second choice hasn't put dates for open days on its website yet.

We won't change our preferences, both DD and I have been pretty certain since we started thinking about it.
