Hi everyone,
my family and will relocate from Italy to Scotland in 2020.
We own a place in Leith Walk and have looked up at the catchment schools.
DD has been brought up bilingual (EN/IT) since birth, gone to British school up to P2 then, for economic reasons, has gone on to Italian state school where has now finished a very successful first year Middle school.
We have been spending our annual leave hols in Edinburgh since she was born, she's familiar with the city, its life, and has similarly aged friends who attend a famous private school.
We won't be able to afford private school tuition but DD has been baptised, confirmed, etc, so RC schools are an option (both Royal High and St. Thomas are in our catchment).
She's a very sensitive, creative, bright all-arounder who doesn't particulary like maths but has so far had exceptional achievement record in all subjects; thrives in supportive, encouraging environments rather than competitive ones (in facts shuns anything too competitive). So we're looking into a school where children are encouraged to learn because it can be rewarding and where they are happy, with low-bullying rates, rather than for somewhere famous for their academical standing.
Good support for transition from foreign schools would be a bonus
oook, finished my spiel and "shopping list"
... Does anyone have any suggestions ?
Many thanks to all from a newbie.
Silvia
