I’ve been in contact with St Swithuns and they have some open places for my daughter next September for year 10.
Can anyone give some information on the school like the system, drama and how boarding is? Thanks

No for drama or very academic. nice sporting school. it depends on the house. many teachers have left recently as many changes coming. boarding is not like at other schools as this is really a day school with many weekly boarders. if you look at full boarding experience may be better other schools which are not also day schools as the compromise between the 2 is very difficult.

Marathon. Do post your own thread. On your other post I thought you said you had a boy. St Swithuns is a girls school. Few will answer this thread.

If you read this, I think you have had advice on using the Good Schools Guide and getting a consultant.

However you need to decide if you want co-ed (boys and girls) or just boys. You will be too late for schools that are very popular because you say your DS is already in y9. Therefore, make a shortlist. Do you need to school to be 1 hour max from Heathrow for example? Or very close to London or does it not matter?

You need to investigate how many full boarders they have and what they do at weekends. Do lots go home or are there plenty of activities? What does your DS like to do for clubs and activities? What about sport, art, drama and music? Start to narrow down choices by thinking about hat you want, then you could contact the schools that have places and arrange to visit. Schools that could have places are Rugby, Stowe, Charterhouse, St Edwards in Oxford, Wellington, but of course I don’t know this for sure. There will be others.

Hope you get more replies.

if you are looking for your DD a full boarding not weekly I would stick to that as the mix of weekly and full is usually difficult. then off course is what you DD likes: academic or arts, sports etc.. And bets thing is to go and visit the schools as you get the feeling. The best advice I ever got was: look at the kids who are taking you around and speak to them as then your DC will become like that. Great rule! good luck
