Hi. My dc is currently year 8. School has been a disaster the last 2 years and she currently school refuses. She usually manages 3 or 4 days a week, going in late and by force (by us.)
She will be moving schools in Sept and she's happy about that.
We have been offered a free weeks holiday abroad by a friend, but it means dc missing the last 3 days of school. Would you go?

Definitely if she is moving schools and is happy about the move - have a lovely holiday and a fresh start

Of course I would go on holiday a few days isn't going to make a difference if you are moving schools

Can you just give an earlier leaving date than end of term? Or if place is secure for Sept then home educate for last few weeks of term. Only if definitely not cancelled new school.

Yes, just give them an earlier leaving date.

Go. Absolutely go .

I am a secondary teacher and I would 100% go. If your DD finds school difficult the lack of structure in the last few days will be worse for her. I would inform school and expect it to unauthorised.

anotherangel2 - thank you. Hearing a teacher say that should set dh's mind at rest. Personally I've had enough of the school and don't care!!! Blush
