brainmelt well done your boy!

Stickerrocks · 19/06/2018 13:11

Posted the obligatory first day/last day photos on FB. I wish I could post them on here as well, as I feel you all know her too!

brainmelt · 19/06/2018 13:11

Thanks everyone!
oratory that sounds great.
bright Star to everyone surviving FM today.

slinkyme · 19/06/2018 13:23

Jufus blimey that is one hell of a catalogue of disasters. I hope things look up for you.

Brain that is amazing. Many congrats to your DS.

Just dropped DD off to school for the final exam after starting on May 2nd. Felt very emotional and gave her a big hug and told her that I am so proud of her. She thanked me and told me that half of these GCSEs are mine as she couldn't have done what she did without my support. These GCSEs have reduced us to emotional quivering wrecks.

Teenmum60 · 19/06/2018 13:25

Brainmelt - well done to your DS Star
Jufus - well done for managing your DD's education in such awful circumstances.
Oratory - well done to your DS

DD said DT wasn't a straight forward exam (Edexcel) - harder than any other past paper she has done which she has always got an A* in...cross fingers she has done enough to retain the A she has from coursework.

Looks like FM went well for everyone [star}s

Stickerrocks · 19/06/2018 13:31

Currently bursting with pride to receive this extract from an email for DD:

There are moments in a career when one thinks of moving on but students like yourself make it almost impossible ! I sincerely hope that this summer brings your the reward that you deserve for all your efforts over the years.

Oratory1 · 19/06/2018 13:34

Well done Brainmelt DS too & for Jufus for surviving and being in a position to look forward to moving on. Just highlights how unfair the system is and how much of the results are down to luck - I guess all they can do is work hard and do the best they can with the lot they have been given.

Oratory1 · 19/06/2018 13:37

wow stickerrocks that's lovely. Lots of people say well done etc but when they find words like that you know its really meant.

BlueBelle123 · 19/06/2018 13:42

Wow Stickerrocks what a lovely thing for a teacher to write, your DD is clearly a Star..........its also nice that those on this thread feel happy to post such positive comments/achievements about their DC not always possible IRL.

Stickerrocks · 19/06/2018 13:44

I would love to post the rest of what she said, but can't. I agree that it's far easier to be proud parents here than in RL. I'm going to be an emotional wreck on Friday when she stands up on the stage to speak.

Teenmum60 · 19/06/2018 13:44

Stickerrocks - What a lovely comment to receive ...Your DD is a Star

EllenJanethickerknickers · 19/06/2018 13:56

Stickerrocks that's lovely. Can't you post the photos on here using the blue face disease? Or maybe still too outing?

Jufus I'm so sorry for your DD. I hope she has more success with sixth form. Please make sure that you use your awful school's stats to help your DD get contextual offers for university.

JufusMum · 19/06/2018 14:25

EllenJane thank you and to others offering support and sympathy for DD at School From Hell. If she gets into first choice sixth form it is the best sixth form in Milton Keynes so things should start to look up :)

I, on the other hand will not look forward to my new 1 hour 20 min commute!

Well done to all FM, our school does not offer FM, it's enough of a struggle to get the 30% who pass Maths that far!!!

brainmelt · 19/06/2018 14:33

Thanks for sharing this sticker what an amazing email to receive Star

mmzz · 19/06/2018 14:35

Stickerrocks That is such a nice email. You can tell its heartfelt. You are right to be pleased and proud.

Thanks everybody.

Jufus One the bright side, the fact that your DD has been in such a dire school should stand her in good stead for the future. She's learnt resilience and how to take control of her own learning.

cubscout · 19/06/2018 14:39

What a lot of fantastic dc we all have - lovely comments Sticker and Brainmelt. We have had leavers assembly which was done by the boys,. Celebration evening for Year 11's is in September when they all go back for Year 12.

Ds form tutor handed out little notes to all the boys on Friday as she is leaving the school and has been ds's form tutor for the past 5 years. Ds's read:

Dear...You have been an absolute pleasure to have as a tutee for 5 years. You have helped me so much and have been the most conscientious student I've met. I wish you all the best.

He has worked hard over the 5 years of secondary, despite the ribbing and teasing for being a 'keeno'. Funny that lots of boys came to him for help nearing GCSE's Hmm ! I'm so proud and hope he gets the success he deserves on 23rd. And yes, it's nice to be able to have a proud mum moment.

Bedroom painting complete for the day - 3 walls done with 2 coats, just one more wall for tomorrow.

Cblue · 19/06/2018 14:56

Well done for prizes, finishing and getting through it
Jufus - OMG. Whatever your DD gets she deserves a massive 🎖
Slinkyme - that brought a tear to my eye. What a great DD.

brainmelt · 19/06/2018 14:59

I agree slinky I missed your DD's comment. What a mature nice thing to say!

PeggySchuylar · 19/06/2018 15:04

Lovely to hear the positive comments made to your DC.

I have been fretting about DD and plans for next year. You might remember she is concerned that the college might be a bit light on the geek factor.

I had another look and it is huge! Ofsted outstanding FWIW. So you excellant evaluators of 6th form options, if you were looking at this what would you see as strengths or concerns?

Peggy's DD's likely college

Teenmum60 · 19/06/2018 15:20

@PeggySchuylar Looks amazing...what lovely grounds and facilities.

Jufus - You cannot be that far away from me ...if your DD is off to Sixth form in MK... although I dont know any of the schools in MK...a lot of the girls who go to DD's school are from the MK area.

I'm getting a nervous twitch about how much DD's hair is going to cost me...then if she doesn't like it, I'm not sure what happens...not sure whether a colour change is the right way to go before Prom ..

LooseAtTheSeams · 19/06/2018 15:33

Aww...lovely Stickerrocks!
Peggy your DS's college looks amazing, I shall have to have a good read of the website!

LooseAtTheSeams · 19/06/2018 15:33

Dd I mean - I can't believe autocorrect is so sexist!

slinkyme · 19/06/2018 15:36

Stickerocks that's so lovely. This whole rices has given me so much respect of teachers who give so much day in day out for our DC. Some really go over and beyond and it's so nice to hear that in some way our DC are giving them meaning and inspiration in their profession.

Peggy got to the first and it looks wow. Will look more.

brainmelt · 19/06/2018 15:37

loose the autocorrect just likes your DS...
