cubscout I think DS2 has also finished in his mind, even though he has two papers still to do.

hmcAsWas · 15/06/2018 23:30

Grin TheThird - that's hilarious re the Latin

snozzlemaid · 15/06/2018 23:41

My dd has two exams next week, further maths, and finishes on Thursday.
As most have now finished it was parties all round today once Physics was over. She spent the afternoon on the beach, home for tea, then went back this evening for a party.
She's just got home a little drunk and sunburnt.
It's a bit strange as she's not finished yet but is celebrating like she has.

KittiesInsane · 15/06/2018 23:50

DD has one more exam and then we’re done. She’s been pretty much asleep on her feet this evening but came out with, ‘Is it really weird that I’ve actually kind of enjoyed it?’

Yes, sweetheart, it is.

BackforGood · 15/06/2018 23:54

Justice Grin
I think dd will be getting a bit more pampered than that. I don't think she is that overly bothered about any pampering, but her older cousin is very excited about dd's prom, and wants to "do" her make up and hair. dd doesn't normally wear makeup, and had been thinking of brushing her hair...... Wink

JufusMum · 16/06/2018 00:12

All this talk of DC out celebrating and drinking makes me realise what a young 15 year old DD is. Never had a boyfriend, never had alcohol, never been to a teenage party. All her choice completely. She cane home today and played with her hamsters. She is still very child-like. I don't know if that worries me or not.
Three German exams next week then we are done.

snozzlemaid · 16/06/2018 00:34

Jufus my dd is only just starting to try these things. She's not had a boyfriend yet and she's not been to many parties. This is the first time she's been a little drunk.
I'm grateful she's taken her time with these things. It scares me some of the stories you hear about what others are getting up to at that age.

mmzz · 16/06/2018 06:26

@Sostenueto Good luck for today. I will be praying for you. Thanks

cubscout · 16/06/2018 07:05

Jufus ds has only just started going out, literally only since Easter and this is the first time I've known him to try alcohol. Yes only been to one party. I'm so relieved we got to GCSE without any of this but it's a bit of a shock! He seems to have grown up so much in the last 6 weeks.

sost thoughts yo you today.

Oratory1 · 16/06/2018 07:18

Echo thoughts to sos

spababe · 16/06/2018 07:44

@mmzz both my DS have no interest in Love Island. However they love Gordon Ramsay in Hell's Kitchen on Netflix. I'm not sure he's anything to aspire to Hmm My geeky DS loves The Flash and Arrow. The Apprentice is great too.

For my elder DS's 18th we had a family day out in London not a big party. Neither of my boys are into alcohol or parties and I think there is an alcohol backlash amongst a significant proportion of teens.

kitnkaboodle · 16/06/2018 08:10

DS has Further Maths n Statistics next week - anyone else doing Statistics?? It's a separate GCSE and I haven't heard anyone else mention it! Top two Maths sets at his school do it.

JufusMum · 16/06/2018 08:12

Sending love and support to Sost today.
Today is "almost there" treat day for DD. After dance we are going to see her beloved Johnny Depp in his band, The Hollywood Vampires. She has painstakingly decorated a guitar strap for him so we need to find the stage door at the Birmingham Genting Arena to deliver it to the tour manager.

Stickerrocks · 16/06/2018 08:21

Jufus Awww!

We went to see Ed Sheeran last night as a nearly there threat. I saw how principled DD is, when she told a lad in his late 20s what she thought about him when he pushed in front of several shorter people, totally blocking their view. Then her back started to spasm, so we missed the last few songs. I was very proud of how I managed to manoeuvre out of my parking space - 2 parking attendants & around 40 in & out moves, but I did it!

Sost sending love.

sost sending love to you for today. I have just listened to ‘You’re a Lady’ in your honour! Can’t believe you’re playing on it!

DS arrived home at midnight last night. He’d been to a party but don’t know what state he was in as I went to bed and DH stayed up to make sure he was home. I’m sure he’d have been ok- he does have the odd drink I think but he seems to be pretty sensible and he’s not in with the hardcore party crowd at his school.

I can’t quite believe it’s all over! All the best and commiserations to those with more to come.

LooseAtTheSeams · 16/06/2018 08:34

I was too tired to post anything last night but I did manage to watch The Bridge so that was my treat (?) after the exams!
DS celebrated with fish and chips at home. Incidentally neither of mine socialised on their birthdays - the younger one just wanted to stay in bed all day and then eat a huge meal; DS1 was ill and lost interest!
But DS has several friends still doing exams so I wanted to send sympathy to those still revising this weekend and lots of love to Sostenueto today.

AlexanderHamilton · 16/06/2018 08:38

Flowers for sostenuto

There are some unhappy parents today as we’ve just been told via email that results can only be collected in person between certain hours & will not be released by phone or email.

adrinkofwater · 16/06/2018 08:48

Thinking of sost today.

German and further maths for DS next week, so we're not done. DD also has her busiest A level week coming to!

Thethird that's so like something my DS would do! It made me so happy to hear about another dc doing it!!

Stickerrocks · 16/06/2018 08:52

Alexander we have exactly the same situation here. I have to book my time off at work 18 months in advance (don't get me started), so I worked out the correct date 2 years ago & booked a day off. Other friends hadn't thought about collecting results or enrolling at college and had booked holidays, thinking they could pick up results by email. One has now had to change their Med holiday to the Caribbean at Christmas instead.

Being a boarding school DD's school has students who will be returning to their home countries either over the summer or permanently & the rest are scattered far & wide.

LooseAtTheSeams · 16/06/2018 08:58

Stickerrocks ouch!
I think on results day round here there's a lot of going in, collecting results and enrolling all on the one day so it's quite hectic.

dogzdinner · 16/06/2018 09:07

I'm another with a DS who isn't into partying. Doesn't finish until next week but I don't think he has any plans to celebrate with friends. I'll ask him if he wants a couple of ciders.

Results day here you have to go in to collect or have them posted to you. DS will be away with his dad so I'm collecting on his behalf. I guess he may need to come back from his holiday if the results aren't what he needs for 6th form. (Stupid to have booked the holiday then)

beenrumbled · 16/06/2018 09:13

Thinking of you sost

DS is not the partying kind either.

He really isnt bothered.

TerfTerfTerf · 16/06/2018 09:43

Thinking healing thoughts for sost today and hope your DGD is having a brilliant time in London.

We went to the local pub last night to view the GCSE art exhibition. They display all the students exam piece plus selected other pieces. We were blown away by the standard. Our friend got 70/72 on both her coursework and exam piece but they still don't know what grade that will get her. Maddening system! This is one of the pieces - done by a girl who's had a not-great start in life but who has evidently embraced feminism and women's rights. It says at the bottom "Women get shit done" and she says the mouth is blocked out because women are silenced too often. She will go far I think! except her dad is a mysoginistic controlling arse

GCSEs 2018 (13) Untwisting our knickers, lucky for some!
mmzz · 16/06/2018 09:48

How could 70/72 (97.2%) be anything other than a 9?
