New AS level

DD's school has decided to stick with AS Level this year.....dropping it next year. New style paper this year and not many past specimens papers to refer or revise from. She's at a great school but general consensus on papers to date is about doable at best to impossible at worst! Anyone else finding AS levels a complete pig this year?

No, it is very doable for Maths. Half of each paper was straight forward so everyone can have a good go if they have done their work during the year. The second half contains questions with increasing difficulty to differentiate candidates.
It is a new spec so everyone is of course nervous about it. Teachers are not sure of what to teach so it seems like difficult. However, everyone in theory is in the same boat. Please do not let that affects your DD. Some kids just readily use it as an excuse to hide other things and other just agree so they don’t look bad. If someone finds the exam easy they would not gloat to their friends who are finding it difficult. I have enough kids telling me in private that the Maths papers were absolutely fine. Taking into account the ability of the kids I teach and what they imply by that, our result will be similar to last year.
