Opinions on Abingdon state secondary's?

Might be relocating back to Abingdon after some years away; Does anyone have any views (own experience or rumours!) on the state secondary's in Abingdon- particularly Larkmead and Fitzharrys? They don't seem that well rated, where do people go to state secondary's around here if not these ?

Your choice if you don't like the Abingdon state secondaries would be to travel to Didcot - two single sex schools and a new mixed comp. My daughter attends Didcot Girls so I know that one pretty well. Other than that you would have to travel quite some distance since only other nearby school is Matthew Arnold which you'd have little chance of getting into.

Happy to be PMed if you'd like more info. Know one of the Abingdon schools pretty well but would be outed by saying why.

Thanks HPFA. Currently deliberating where to move to balanced with secondary's ( options include FCC, MA, or Abingdon at the moment- at a stretch id consider KA, burford or Bartholomew). I enjoyed living in Abingdon previously - just worry whether schools are any good or not. I will PM

I worked at JMS many moons ago. The general opinion was that Abingdon schools are affected by the large number of students creamed off by the varied independent sector offerings. I think there is some truth in this.

They are still good schools and many do very well from them.
