Hello - I'd be grateful for people's thoughts on this school. We're moving to the area and I've heard good and bad (as with all schools) about it. I'd just appreciate the experiences of anyone with first hand experience - particularly how you think it compares to Blundells and Wellington. My son is not a rugger b*gger but loves cricket and does rock school music grades. Currently he's completely ignored at school as he doesn't play classical which I'm hoping to avoid at the next school. Thanks everyone and look forward to hearing from you!

I don't want to out myself but I know 2 of the Directors of Music and have met the 3rd of the schools you name. I suggest you contact them directly and ask them. If they care enough to respond, you will have your answer.

Rock School has gained in popularity enormously over the last few years and any DoM looking down their nose at it is incredibly naive in my opinion.

Hi, I am a parent at West Buckland and both my children have thrived in what is an extremely happy and vibrant school. The music is incredibly strong under the guidance of a very charismatic Director of Music, who is a bit of an inspiration. My son was mad about cricket (he completed A levels last summer) and loved playing school and District-level cricket. My daughter also plays! I know there is an Open Day on 7th May if you're interested.

A maths teacher I know was saying that one of the maths team there is one of the most brilliant she's ever met.
