American family moving to London this summer with two girls (13 and 15). We are looking for a nice neighborhood to rent an apartment and a good international school.

Not sure what it’s reputation is like but if the London move will be temporary and you want the kids to slot easily back into the American system then there is an American school in St John’s Wood. Great neighbourhood too (although pricey). Or are you specifically looking for a school that offers international baccalaureate?

We have lived in the UK for quite a while and have sent our kids to both English and international schools.

The American School in London is in St John's Wood but is probably full. You should call right away but I think it's unlikely there will be a place. Southbank International is also closer to London. There are several international schools in Surrey, all quite different such as ACS Cobham, TASIS and ACS Egham. Egham is mainly IB, TASIS and Cobham offer both AP and IB. If you live in Surrey you'll be 30-40 minutes by train from London - it's lovely but different from living in London proper!

There’s also the Dwight School (in north London).
