Kumon or Tutor for Y9 DS

Hi, my DS has been underachieving in maths for the last two terms. He is in the 2nd highest class but very unmotivated and does the absolute minimum. Would Kumon cover GCSE maths topic or would a tutor be a better option?

Kumon is good for arithmetic and is a Japanese program so won't help GCSEs.

If he isn't engaging with maths in school, why do you think he will engage with Kumon/tutor? (Serious question).

I agree. It has to come from your ds, especially as he is bright and in the second highest set. Maybe have a chat with the school / his maths teacher.
