magicalsitar · 31/03/2018 13:57

31% of young women aged 18-24 report having experienced sexual abuse in childhood
59% of girls age 13-21 face sexual harassment at school with almost 1/3 of girls age 16-18 experiencing unwanted sexual touching.

Thanks for posting this - signed. (You might want to put it under the petitions and activism topic though, that's where links to petitions are officially meant to go)

cingolimama · 31/03/2018 16:41

sorry, OP, while I'd like consent to be discussed in school, I won't sign a petition this vague.

Also, there are several spelling mistakes, and while I'm not usually pedantic about spelling on online forums, on a petition it matters.

Camiila · 31/03/2018 17:18

when did it stop being taught in schools?

Camiila · 31/03/2018 17:19

I'm actually more concerned that teaching pregnancy is no longer compulsary

retirednow · 31/03/2018 17:21

What about boys

pieceofpurplesky · 31/03/2018 17:23

It is still taught in schools. My form have a whole day around sex, sexuality, consent and contraception next month.

pieceofpurplesky · 31/03/2018 17:24

And my son had this before Christmas at his school.

ShackUp · 31/03/2018 17:28

I taught this to my Year 9s the other day Confused

RowenaDedalus · 31/03/2018 17:28

I certainly teach consent during sex education and am of the understanding that this would be the case in all maintained schools.

gobbin · 31/03/2018 18:57

Yep, taught in Yr 8 and Yr 9 in different contexts here.

Pengggwn · 01/04/2018 07:41

Taught it two weeks ago.

Notonmyaccount · 01/04/2018 09:13

It'd already part of the RSE curriculum at our school, band there is already a well advanced campaign to make RSE compulsory. OP I hope you responded to the DfE's recent RSE consultation: consult.education.gov.uk/life-skills/pshe-rse-call-for-evidence/

If not, you're a bit late to the party.

claraschu · 01/04/2018 09:16

I agree that a petition needs to be perfectly spelled and well worded to be taken seriously by Parliament. This one needs to be corrected!

Notonmyaccount · 01/04/2018 09:20

P.s. This video is one of the resources used to introduce the topic at our school:

PotteringAlong · 01/04/2018 09:23

But it is taught in schools... Confused

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/04/2018 09:26

It is already taught in schools.
It should also be taught at home.

Do your research.
Proofread.

Anasnake · 01/04/2018 20:10

It is taught as many others have previously said

MaisyPops · 01/04/2018 22:42

Joining the echo chamber here. It is already taught in schools. And rightly so.

But whilst we're at it would it be bad to point out that maybe, just maybe, it would be nice for once in a while the response to general life stuff not to be 'make it compulsory in school'.
