my DS is preparing for 11+. What are the best ways to help him learn comprehension? He gets bored with exercises. I thought to try guided reading activities from twinkl? Are there any other resources/ways? Thank you

Hiya!
I used to get my DS to write up stories, I’d print off an image from google and he would use that that. Trying to use as many great words as poss and good descriptive text.
Comprehension in bonds etc we’d go over some together as they can be really tricky. Take turns reading it then discussing about what it could mean etc and then run answer the questions. It’s hard going I know but you both can do it! Good luck! X

Look on the elevenplusexams forums in the English section. It's full of good info. Comprehension, whether the long written ones or multiple choice, are tricky. Look at resources depending on which exam she'll sit. For multiple choice, I'd recommend the GL papers, Athey and the First Past the Post papers. For written comps, past papers from any of the independent schools nearby to you and Bond. There is a good 'How to do Comprehensions' book from Bond.
