Does anyone have any experience with with school?

Anyone from Crouch End area going there? We are 3.89 miles as crow flies. And meet all the Catholic criteria. Is there ever much movement on waiting lists. I see last year it was 4.7 and this year first round is 3.6. We want to apply for next year 2019/20.

The furthest distance offered will go right out as the school won't be the first choice for many, mainly because there are so many better schools in Haringey and Barnet.

Highgate Wood and Greig City would be much better local choices in my opinion.

Finchley has just had Ofsted so wait and see what the outcome is.

Have a look at the Progress 8 data too: Finchley doesn't come out well compared with your local schools.

Thank you so much muffinsandtea. Yes we are a 3 min walk from Highgate Wood. Will take a look at that link. Appreciate your help.

No they don't. Finchley has a very able intake - the majority of the children started with above average attainment from Primary School. The other two schools have much more mixed entries. The Progress 8 score tries to adjust for different entries - and Finchley has the worst score on this measure. For more able children Finchley's Progress 8 score was below the national average.

My personal experience of the school was that there were some revolting bullies tormenting children from other schools on the bus. But that was years ago.

And most local parents would choose Highgate Wood over Greig.

The Ofsted report showed this school to be very mediocre. As Notaguru has said, the pupils entering at year 7 are already achieving well but Finchley fails to stretch the high achievers and relies on bright pupils for its year 11 results. You can do better than this school much more locally.
