Maths Olympiad Today

Did anybody else's DC sit this today? DS says he only did 5 out of 6 questions. Is that a problem?

No, if he did 5 decent answers that's very good

It sounds as though he did extremely well.

DS2 was not able to come up with any full solutions at all, although he did attempt partial solutions to all but one of the questions.

5 out of 6 is really good. If they are all correct and receive full marks then that would be a medal. Most participants can only do 1 or 2.

Our DC are under so much pressure for mainstream exams/gcse's etc I worry when we are so vested in how well they have done (or not) in co curricular/extra curricular stuff as well

Sorry, not meaning to be critical to OP or put a downer on those doing Olympiad but sometimes we just need to let them do these things for the enjoyment/challenge without unpicking or measuring their performance.

I assumed the OP was just interested to get a rough idea of what was normal. If the OP were actually overinvested they'd have already researched the ukmt website and would have known that answering 5 questions was a good result. Asking the question on mumsnet is a pretty low level of investment imo!

I don't think I'm overinvested. I didn't know he was doing this Maths thing until he told me about it this afternoon so I'm just trying to play catch up. Thanks for your answers which are really appreciated.
