Snow Closure Days Coming Off Of Attendance?

Sunnystars · 06/03/2018 19:12

Just that really, school was closed for two days last weeks due to the snow but the days have been taken off of dc's attendance taking it just below the magic 95%.
Surely that isn't right?

It shouldn't. Is it an online tracking system like Milk? Give it a day or two to right itself.

PattiStanger · 06/03/2018 19:47

What did the school say when you asked them? I'd imagine as Bibi says that it's an usual situation that they'll sort out as soon as they can.

PattiStanger · 06/03/2018 19:48

Sorry, an unusual situation obviously

MongerTruffle · 06/03/2018 19:50

No, that's not right.
A # (registration code for school closure) should have been recorded in the school's MIS. The school can edit it retrospectively, so I would leave it for a few days and if nothing changes, ask the school why they have been marked absent.

It is an online system and I only noticed it tonight so I haven't approached the school about it yet, I'll give it a few days.
Thanks all.

It shouldn’t be a # code, it should be a Y code, which means the whole school is off and it doesn’t count in attendance figures, due to exceptional circumstance. Regular people at school can’t code Y, it requires someone with high level permission on SIMS to do this. I only managed to do this late on yesterday as I had other more important stuff to do, so for a while the attendance figures looked wrong!

Yes don't worry my DS was once marked absent for a week - as was the whole class - it was actually the week of the residential and published with the end of year 6 report so they then had to correct this!
