Hi all,
My daughter has passed St. Albans , St. Helens and watford grammar.
I am not able to decide which school to send . Gcse results of St. Albans are best.
Does anyone has daughter going into any of these schools.
Advice is appreciated.
Thanks

The best school out of all three in terms of reputation is, without a doubt, St Albans Girls High. Many girls go there from my children’s prep.

General consensus is it’s for the VERY clever girl. Girls who were top of their class up to 11 find themselves average in their year when they get there. Some struggle with this, for others it’s the push they need to really excel. Girls who have been heavily tutored to get in find it exceptionally tough.

Facilities are good but not amazing - for example, the sports fields are located away from the main site. The town centre location does have it’s advantages though.

The head is fabulous and the results are excellent (although surely down to their intake?).

Unless money is going to be a problem, there is no way I would turn down a place to go to Watford Girls. It’s a good school but certainly not one people rave about.

Don’t know anything about St Helens.

I heard St Albans had issues with Anxiety and anorexia but that was a while ago so could be different now.

I know someone through work whose daughter went there. Said she went in very mousey and lacking in confidence and blossomed while there. Apparently the school found ways to bring out the best in her. Good luck.
