Can anyone give me any info or reviews of Croxley Danes?

My friend's child goes there.

Pros:
SCD is a good school, so there's trust by association.

Cons:
Croxley Danes has only been open for 6 months, so is still an unknown quantity.
Site delays: The permanent site was initially promised for September 2017. They haven't yet been able to start work (something to do with drainage of the site?) and the site will then need to be levelled before building can start (it's on a hill). I'll be impressed if the permanent site is ready by September.

I think it’s hoping to “bask in the glory” of SCD. Don’t assume they’re the same schools.

It's just quite hard to find out any info about it. I know it's a new school and everything but...

I can't imagine the new site will be open by Sept, so intake will have to fit in to SCD. I think both schools will go through an unsteady period.
Having said that, the leadership looks good, and they already have the 'kudos' of being one of the selective schools. (That's either a positive or negative depending on whether or not you are fortunate enough to get into a selective school!).

Not sure there's room for two year groups of Croxley Danes students at SCD. Unless they build more portakabins.

Perhaps Croxley Danes could temporarily use the premises in Tolpits Lane which will be vacated when the Reach Free moves? Although I realise that sounds a bit like musical chairs with school buildings.

TheSecondOfHerName · 02/03/2018 20:35

There won't be any data on how well their students make progress (progress 8 or whatever the equivalent will be by then) until late 2022.

Sittinginthesun · 02/03/2018 20:42

I also think it's too early to say how the school will be, but the bottom of Croxley is a bit of a black hole, otherwise. Not sure how they're going to cope at SCD in the meantime - I just wonder if they've bitten off a bit too much...

I think the plan is to have temporary buildings ready for September on the new site.

I guess this is going to be one of those suck it and see situations...
