We have been offered a place for DS in September. It wasn't near the top of our list.

Has anyone got any views/experience, good or bad, they could share with me? Over DM if preferred.

Hi- just wondering how you know as thought results weren't out until 5pm?
I know a few parents there who are very happy with it and it was definitely number one choice for most boys in current Y6 who applied to state schools.
Pretty strict I think.

One friend with a son there - very very happy. She likes the sportiness and the relative strictness. He's a bright boy and doing really well.

The school sent us an email inviting us to a parents of new boys evening. Pretty crap tbh, them jumping the gun. We haven't heard from the council yet.

Thank you for being positive. I was v down on it. Will go and look (DH and I split all the school tours as we tried for private as well so there were loads) and hope I like it!

How did you find it? The Headmaster is proposing a new school in Mortlake together with two other active and influential Christian Evangelicals. It does not take much googling to discover he has the strong personal views you would expect on male supremacy, homosexuality and creationism. The school even hosted the International Outreach Director of the Council for Womanhood and Manhood from America for a week at the school, who must have taken the opportunity to proselytise, given Evangelicals regard it as their duty. We are very concerned in Mortlake..... Are parents happy with it? I can't imagine being happy to expose my son to such misogyny

I'm really happy with the school. There are fantastic female staff members including an amazing deputy head. The boys aren't forced to believe things. There is a great atmosphere and it's a really diverse bunch of boys and parents. My son has been there since the beginning. If you are worried then best to read the ofsted report.

DS attended Fulham Boys for a couple of years. Initially I was very hopeful the school would live up to its aims. Unfortunately FBS has completely disappointed. The leadership at the school is shockingly poor. The thought that they are trying to expand into other schools is really concerning as they are pretty much failing at running the current school. GCSE grades are some of the worst in the borough and teacher recruitment and retention is dire. Avoid until they figure it out.

Significant concerns since joining FBS in recent years because of harsh discipline ahead of pastoral need. These have been escalated to school and governors, an seems reflected in the vast number of teacher departures and replacements.

My DS attends this school and has been very happy (so far) there. In regard to the alleged bible bashing and proselytising I have not seen any evidence of this, as they seem more concerned with results (academic/sports)
I am a 'Christian lite' so I wouldn't send my DS to a school that I thought was OTT 'bible bashing' and nothing else.
Give it a go!

I started my secondary PGCE there a few years back. As a staff member, the atmosphere was horrible. I left after 5 weeks due to a horrible working environment/lack of support, which appeared to be rife. I hope it has improved!

You won't need to worry about excess Christianity, its not detectable. The nice teachers left en masse in 2021. Any sweet ones, I give personal thanks to, and they apologise for lack of power to make change. Shiny advertising, false promises. A few nice boys trying to cope in a windowless vacuum of gehtto schooling. Try Cheslea Academy, Notting Hill or a private school. Another place to avoid would be West London Free, for similar reason of long-standing mean culture.
