Mmzz - If DS1 has Physics tomorrow perhaps he can ask when they are doing the practicals? Do you know which topic the practicals belong too - Is it the topic not covered yet?

DD reviewing Poetry and refusing to look at Mr. Bruff (does he cover Igcse and our syllabus was the response to the suggestion - DD definitely not buying into Mr. Bruff).

School has asked the DC to take in some of their Revision Cards tomorrow - to ensure they are not writing too much or too little or the wrong info - or maybe to check that they are doing the revision .

Stickerrocks · 07/03/2018 20:39

Off to look at user's suggestion fro physics....

As usual can´t possibly follow you guys but I saw mmzz spreadsheet for his DS ---- OMG Shock You get a 9 from me!

LooseAtTheSeams · 08/03/2018 08:45

I am also full of admiration for that spreadsheet!
DS1 fairly relaxed about his 2 science mocks today. He is, however, really annoyed that he has to stay after school to help rack up the required hours for the doomed computer programming project when he's already finished it. He was also a bit miffed that the teacher won't let him do his maths homework instead!Smile
He is now considering doing English A level. I am leaving him to it!

Hmm the computing NEA is a real pain - seems the teachers have to sign they have been given the 20 hours. DS is planning to finish the project as quickly as possible then use the rest of time for computing revision as they can access the internet in those hours now. The only consolation is he says the coding he has done for the project has helped for paper 2.

user1469682920 · 08/03/2018 09:10

Still not finding enough time for revision and dyslexia and processing speed etc making things difficult - but I think we have settled on the aim of maximising marks in A level subjects, working on English to try and make sure of the pass in that and everything else can just fall anywhere in between if he runs out of time. ie will focus on A level subjects and English - not ideal but hopefully won't matter once he gets started on A levels as he's not aiming for top uni

BlueBelle123 · 08/03/2018 09:18

User..920 I think that's a very sensible approach. DS has just finished his 20 hours on the computing NEA, now its just revision.

Teenmum60 · 08/03/2018 09:26

Dd seems Ok with revision now and the school also seem to be proactive....she seems to have changed in the last week - seems happier and more on top of things, not sure why.

She completed some Eng work on poetry yesterday and read it out to me - the detailed explanation of why the author had used certain words was very in-depth.

In school early for meeting with Reprographics department to get Prom invites sorted and working late to do DT work. Perfume bottle finished and now doing packaging.

The timing for DDs French Oral now given out and not ideal - midday - going to speak to tutor and get some advice and then see whether DD can change with someone.

user1469682920 · 08/03/2018 09:28

I think it gets easier when all homework is revision and practise questions etc and they're doing a lot of exam technique in lessons

Teenmum60 · 08/03/2018 09:30

DD has not yet finished the Computer Science syllabus ...they did the NEA before Xmas and spent a whole term doing it in class :-( On the positive side mock exam was very good and perhaps it's not a bad thing finishing theory now because hopefully, the knowledge will be fresh..she's actually enjoyed the topics now.

AlexanderHamilton · 08/03/2018 09:32

Dd went to a science/genetics event last night with school. She loved it & found it all fascinating. Was telling dh all about it on the journey home.

Remind me why she wants to be a dancer??

Teenmum60 · 08/03/2018 09:38

Alexander Its genetics that has taken my DD's interest of late too and resulted in "I want to do Biology A Level now"...hopefully your DD can combine the two!

Sostenueto · 08/03/2018 10:08

Its the brain that fascinates my dgd .......also volcanoes and fossils.......Confused

Sostenueto · 08/03/2018 10:10

Can't understand why my dgd had to choose her A levels so early compared to others. She had to choose in novemberConfused.

AlexanderHamilton · 08/03/2018 10:59

That does seem incredibly early.

Dd has been told that most of the students who had chosen one particular A level have now indicated that they will not be staying at the school. I think they need 3 for the class to run (year group of 30 plus Btec 10-15 students who choose 1 A Level alongside.

They have offered that she can do it as independent guided study. Anyone have any experience of this?

Oddsocks15 · 08/03/2018 11:55

sos your dgd can study me, I'm an old fossil !!

My DD still doesn't want to go prom. She had a mock this week that was rescheduled from when the school was shut last week, but I have no idea how it went as she is only muttering one or two words.

Teenmum60 · 08/03/2018 12:35

Interview letter just arrived for back up 6th form....seems pretty drawn out 1.30 until 3.30pm...States each meeting will last 15-20 minutes but only states that she will have the interview with HOSF and spend time with a student studying one of DD's options.

Fortunately, its a Friday afternoon when DD has games so she will only miss one lesson.

Sostenueto · 08/03/2018 12:38

Sostenueto · 08/03/2018 12:41

My dgd supposed to go to an open evening tonight for a 6th form college she got accepted for ( but really doesn't want to go there its just a fall-out option if exams go badly) and she said she doesn't want to go to open evening. Should she go or not?

Oddsocks15 · 08/03/2018 13:00

It might be worthwhile your dgd going sos just in case. Maybe only stay an hour?

Sostenueto · 08/03/2018 13:12

Yes think that's a good idea teenmum. Just in case.

Oddsocks15 · 08/03/2018 18:10

DD has said she had level 7 in maths and level 1 in English Shock

So no improvement with English

Oddsocks15 · 08/03/2018 18:15

In her recent mocks and no science results yet

Stickerrocks · 08/03/2018 19:03

I was quite pleased with DD's chemistry result earlier & dared to tell her. Well that was wrong, wasn't 8t. My expectations are too low & the mark was dreadful, apparently! Deep breaths...
