Glad to help, sostenuto.

We had a bit more snow yesterday but it's melting now ( any bets on how long until the floods start?).
I was thinking the people in my town are a bit too soft, but the postman just walked past in shorts, so I am rethinking that!

Time to wake DS up and point him at his books. I'm really not up for a fight today so I hope he doesn't start being grumpy about it. Only 4 1/2 months and it will be all over.

BlueBelle123 · 03/03/2018 10:12

DS's illness seems to have returned, I blame the snow Smile. So I think that will be another day where nothing gets done!

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 10:29

Sorry to hear it @bluebelle hope she recovers, its the cold it slows me right up. I have my own digger here who I just let out in the back garden. Thought she might avoid the drifts but head first straight in, you gotta love staffies! Even more mess but someone had fun!

LooseAtTheSeams · 03/03/2018 10:35

Melting here, too. Our postmen won’t be wearing shorts - much too soft (or normal?!) for that!
There are some more mocks coming up - there’s another computer paper, science papers and all three maths papers. Two of them are on the Inset day and he’s going to be delighted when he finds out I’ve also booked his dental checkup that day!

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 10:36

There are flood warnings out @mmzz, some in my area too. I live near Norfolk broads but am in Suffolk and part of the broads were frozen for a bit. Looked so pretty on photos posted on fb. Its at least a decade since that happened.
Dgd now starting revision dd said. Trouble is dd does not check to see if she actually is doing any. I go and check cos I'm an ogre! Dd says she trusts dgd to do it.Hmm she's obviously forgotten what she was like as a teen!Smile

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 10:41

No more Mock's that I'm aware of at this end. They are doing regular full assessment tests though on a weekly basis. Maths now finished teaching geography nearly done, chemistry 1 more unit and same for biology. Physics 2 more units to go, r.e nearly done English lit almost done just last bit of romeo and Juliet. Loads of revision classes lunchtimes and after school.
School has sent through homework while school has been closed so plenty of work for dgd to do.

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 10:42

Does anyone know any good Spanish revision sites or books please?

Oddsocks15 · 03/03/2018 13:05

sos BBC Bitesize?

DD has just said that mocks last week were harder than the last lot, especially Maths (her strongest subject).

Apparently she isn’t revising today because she and DH had an argument this morning Hmm tbh she is so hard to live with it really doesn’t take a lot

notsomanky · 03/03/2018 13:11

DS school was closed Thursday/Friday, so the mocks scheduled on those days are being rearranged.

He got the English language papers he sat before half term back - a 7 (one mark off an 8) and an 8, so he was pleased.

He has been revising, maybe 3-4 hours a day.

Still struggling with French, he had his listening mock and got the mark back too - he has really improved, but it's still his weakest aspect of French.

We will probably get a revised mock timetable next week.

He was due to receive his offer letter from his school 6th form, but as they were closed they have not been sent out.

Odd I used the phrase "Everything with you is difficult at the moment." Sound familiar?

stickerrocks oh yes!! Grin

Teenmum60 · 03/03/2018 15:50

Sorry to hear it @bluebelle hope she gets better soon....

notsomanky well done to your DS

oddsocks hope your dD cheers up

I managed to cover myself in snow when I was trying to get snow off windscreen and wiper started which flicked the snow onto me and inside driver door.

Busy morning for us ...picked DD up from sleepover (at QB's - fickle friends comes to mind). Then we visited Prom shop because DD thinks dress we brought maybe too tight (last few cm of zip hard to fasten)...so we now have new prom dress which I actually prefer because it shows off DD's figure - few more pounds spent (although still good value - pic attached).

Emailed DD's dad about back up school - cool response but spoke to DD who thinks its a good idea - we drove past school today and looks impressive so pleased I took plunge....just have to get dD to do write short personal statement now...

Revision has continued competition from Ukulele and now the second book in a Trilogy DD is reading - and is easily loosing....

Apparently school very quiet yesterday - only 2/3 girls in some classes but lessons did go ahead as planned and PE swapped for double DT session (so pleased that DT teacher is keeping DD on track!)

Nice frock Teen. Now can anyone explain why if a shop tells you that someone from your school already has the prom dress you fancy trying on so you can't, why you would go to another shop to buy it & pay £250 more for the privilege than DD did!

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 16:00

Love the prom dress @teenmum
Fantastic result @notsomanky wish my dgd was that good at English!
@stickerocks and @oddsocks I join you in agreeing DVD hell to live with lately!

Teenmum60 · 03/03/2018 16:18

Stickerrocks.. I think it was spiteful of the girl to do this knowing farewell that your DD had brought that dress...however I do wonder how you can prevent girls having the same dress given that we actually went to Dynasty HO which isnt a retail outlet, they stock dresses you can buy at a reduced price if you make an appointment but they supply 500 stores in the UK so there is a chance of someone having the same dress no matter what restrictions they put in place... However going out to buy the same dress already brought by a friend is mean ...DD this morning was purposely avoiding any dress similar to her friends - including colour and style.

AlexanderHamilton · 03/03/2018 17:02

I guess if you’ve set your heart on a dress then you might go elsewhere if one shop refused to sell it. And considering the size of most year groups wouldn’t really be an issue.

Dd’s Dress is from Quiz & considering there are only 25 ish girls in year 11 a duplicate would be more noticeable but it’s not something that bothers us.

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 17:08

@stickerocks I think it was absolutely awful what that other girl did to your dd. But its right to say someone somewhere will have the same dress, but with hairdos and makeup and accessories they will look different. Somebody may have same dress as dgd but she will look different anyway! Don't fret karma is a great thing!Grin

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 17:09

Snap @alexander dgds from quiz too!Smile

Stickerrocks · 03/03/2018 17:14

Luckily DD is laughing about it, especially as the other girl was utterly ripped off. I think they should deliberately ask the local paper to get a photo of them together when they do the usual photo shoot.

She stayed up to 2am reading, then threw a hissy fit when DH & I told her we were going into town. She miraculously got dressed & ready to go in 5 minutes flat whilst DH revved the engine outside. She started revising about an hour ago. No idea which mock is due next as the school was shut on Thursday & Friday.

As usual an american thing causes unnecessary hassle! Its the same with Halloween costumes, like Alexander we couldn't care less if someone has same dress, (after all they all wear same uniform, I know not the same thing) but who cares cos in my eyes my dgd will look better and prettier than anyone and what others think will not bother us.
Just hold your head up and completely blank that girl and think to yourself they only copied knowingly because they have no taste for themselves and are absolutely green with envy over your dd stickers!

Sostenueto · 03/03/2018 17:21

I was being very restrained there @stickerocksGrin I actually would gave rang girls mum up and laughed at her down the phone for spending so much money just to try and outdo my dd! Social suicide would not bother me cod who the heck would want to give these sort og people the time of day let alone be in their social circle!

Oddsocks15 · 03/03/2018 17:43

teen really beautiful dress

stickerrocks what a really mean thing to do.

mmzz · 03/03/2018 17:52

teenmum - I think its just that the other girl thought the dress was "the one", and when she'd s,et her heart on it, she wasn't happy with any other. So, her very indulgent parent decided that her princess should get whatever she had set her heart upon and paid an extra £250 for the privilege.
they are probably justifying it to themselves along the lines that the shoes and jewelry will be different / the girls aren't friends so won't be seen together anyway / whose going to be so petty to make a fuss about a dress (completely blind to the fact that they themselves just made an enormous fuss about a dress).
If i were your DD, I'd be very motivated to make sure that 1) I looked best in the dress 2) I arrived first and 3) i was seen to be having a very good time (but then I can be competitive when riled!)

mmzz · 03/03/2018 17:53

and that whole post should have been address to stickerrocks. Sorry.

LooseAtTheSeams · 03/03/2018 19:10

notso that's a great result! Star
Dressgate sounds utterly bizarre - glad miniStickerrocks isn't upset by it, though.
Teen that's a very smart dress, indeed!
