Does anyone know if you can just cook veggie options for the above gcse, or do you have to cook meat?

Dd is veggie and does not want to cook meat, for obvious reasons.

Thanks!

@ minielise Do you have a link to the categorisation of skills?

Ylvamoon · 25/02/2018 13:39

I've only issues with choosing veggie or vegan only cooking is, that if she wants to take up any food prep related employment she will have to face the meat options.
It's great to accommodate different views but the reality is very different.

Would a cheese shuffle be seen as high skill?

orangesticker · 25/02/2018 13:43

Or rough puff pastry? Veloute. Bechamel? There must be other things they can do to show a high skill level other the fillet fish and joint chicken?

These are from AQA, obviously you don’t just have to stick to these dishes and they have to suit the task set. Also, just because they’ve made the dish doesn’t guarantee they get full marks. In the past I’ve had kids make mistakes such as put salt in a recipe instead of sugar, there is a focus on presentation also.

Moon - Dd doesn’t want to work in catering. She has to do a creative subject for gcse, and this is the one she prefers!
