Retake year 11 with AQA

My DD hasn’t been able to go to school this year due to chronic fatigue so is missing this year at school. We are hoping she will be well enough to go back next year and take her 2nd GCSE year and take the exams at 17 rather than 16.

However the school says she can’t retake the year and the local college can only offer half of her GCSE subjects as resits. She was in the top set for all subjects with predicted grades 7+ in all subjects so is unhappy with this option as she wants to continue with all her subjects at a fast pace.

There may be some private options available but they all do iGSCE and not the AQA ones she is half way through. She doesn’t want to have to start the courses again particularly in Eng Lit and history where we think the syllabus maybe completely different.

We live in Bournemouth area. Any help greatly appreciated.

If she has chronic fatigue wouldn’t a reduced range of GCSEs be a better idea? Have you looked at the specification content between the different exam boards? There isn’t a huge difference (certainly for science) though the required practicals are not necessary for igcse. What sixth form options does she have? They may not require as many gcse grades as you think either.

Why won't school let her retake the year?

If she has had CF then she will not be expected to do the same as others.Account will be taken of her extenuating circumstances.
She has to put her health first

Thanks for all your messages
Yes agree we need to lower her expectations to focus on her health.
Unfortunately the local school policies is to not to allow year resits so we are very stuck.
