Move or stay?

I have moved 9 months ago to a beautiful coastal small town and the primary school where my children go is OK but the secondary school is not doing so well and when my kids reach 16 they have to commute 1-2 hours each way to go to college. Should I move now to a different town with a sixth form attached before my children get too established in their friendships and before my other kids start school, or am I seeing a problem that isn’t there? everything else about the town I live in is great - family, by the sea, great place for kids to grow up, safe etc. but I can’t get over the problem of secondary schools and colleges. My sister has just pulled her teenager out of the local secondary school as she doesn’t think that School is good enough for her child - how can I send my kids to the same school knowing that she thinks the school is no good? Thanks 😀

Well you are not her and it may improve. I think this is difficult and I’m surprised they have to travel so far to get to a 6th form or college. Are you very remote? I wouldn’t have liked the travelling so perhaps consider a move on that basis but many schools are full.

Yes it is the bus that takes the time - the nearest college the local kids all go to is 1hour by bus and the main one they mostly go to is 1hr 40 each way! I just think that is too far to have enough time to enjoy college, have time for homework, friends, part time job etc - you are losing so much of your day to being on the bus! Most adults wouldn’t do it if they didn’t have to! 😀
