Choosing Options - Ancient History?

DD is has chosen her 3 options for yr10, history, geography and music but we're beginning to wonder wether history and geography might be too much and she might be better off doing Ancient history (much narrower syllabus), Geography and music. What do you think?

What do you think about doing normal history and geography together though? do you think its a heavy workload?

What's her preference?

What's the syllabus for History?

Ancient History is a bit marmite. It either absorbs a person or it's a hard slog.

It is a heavy workload but manageable for a naturally high achiever/hard worker. Lots of students take both in my school and very few end up dropping one. They do moan about the workload though. (I'm the history teacher)

I think she should choose the History period that interests her most.

My DD found the bits of her syllabus hardest where she was least interested. And the same is true for A level.

A narrow syllabus means more depth so you have to love it. I would compare each syllabus and see which seems more interesting. The work load won’t be less. However it may narrow down A level choice to Ancient History. Does she want to do History at A level?
