iPad/laptop/notebook for sixth form?

Dd reckons most kids bring a laptop or an iPad to school and “do stuff” on it, especially in free periods. She says everyone sits in the common room rather than go to the IT suite.

My gut feeling is a laptop would be better for word processing, though she says she can get word on an iPad.....but I would have thought for word processing a laptop is better? But a big laptop would be a nightmare to transport to school in her trendy Kankern backpack......would a notebook be better?

She does have a decent PC at home,, so this would purely be for school.

I don't know: at our school the IT and study suites are rammed with sixth formers and the common room is just used to socialise. When they're full up (almost every lesson), students who own laptops go to the library or an empty classroom to use their own. I don't think anyone uses an ipad to do any work on.

Laptop or netbook.
A friend donated the desk top when the pro came out. I will do everything on the iPad beciase it does everything the desk top does.
When I pop into his office to see him I see him use more laptop than the iPad because of the limitations.

Batterry life much better on an iPad, if going down the laptop route check she can charge it during the day

Had a good chat with her, she says she doesn’t feel she will carry a laptop about so have gone for an iPad with a keyboard.....I have a suspicion it will mainly be used for Netflix!
