Bags as part of school uniform?

Anyone else sick and tired of fashinionista teens? Mine want the latest bag. They should make bags and event jackets part of the school uniform... Or am I being mean?

Ours have to have plain navy or black, no visible logos, for coats and bags.

Don't buy them?

Mine have rucksacks that last a year or more.

No, I would hate to have official school uniform bags. Too much risk of them picking up the wrong one. And despite having been the most unfashionable geeky teen, I still remember the sheer pleasure of choosing the "right" school bag each academic year. Normally something my mother thought was totally unsuitable.

I guess the trick is to make sure they have to work for/save up for it, if they want something OTT. I buy sensible bags. If my daughters want outlandish/expensive/ridiculous bags they use birthday/Christmas money.

All the schools I went to had their own bags andblazers. It was expensive but no more expensive than a designer back pack and it was designed to actually be practical and always lasted the entire time you were at the school so a minimum of seven years.

Mine both have decent Herschler rucksacks. DD2 is quite fashion aware but is also aware that she has to carry quite a heavy bag some
I would hate for the school to have a school rucksack - or a coat.
