I have a sporty ds, who is interested in attending Millfield 6th Form. He is currently at quite an academic school in Birmingham, and I am worried about the quality of the A Level teaching at Millfield. Does anyone have any experience of it? I’m grateful for any responses, thank you.

There are more academic schools which are also sporty. My brother went to Millfield (albeit 15 years ago), he went there because he was excellent at sport but struggled academically.

It is true there is a wide variety of ability at Millfield. Due to the size of their sixth form which is large for a boarding school there is a decent sized group at the top and bottom ends. My DC left 4 yrs ago and went onto to get an excellent degree and is now on a graduate scheme. They do not have a large continent that go to Oxbridge although students do gain places each year. A number of students go to universities abroad eg McGill.

Many thanks for the feedback.
Oldmillfieldparent, how many do you reckon are at the top end, roughly? I am not so worried about Oxbridge, or even Russell Group necessarily, more about the quality of the teaching.
