retake english gcse or not for poss vet course application?

DS got a 6 for english language but rest of GCSEs were higher grades. He is in 6th form but thinking of vet course for uni. Should he retake the eng lang gcse. School says it probably wont matter if A levels are good but what do people think? Have to book it before Friday.

A friend did zoological science or something at Bristol and works in wildlife tv (lots of unpaid work in the early years though)

soursprout, thanks, he would have the RVC requirements and have the A* for all 3 sciences and 8 for maths. I have decided to leave it and not book the retake. He will have pretty heavy internal exams in the summer so he can concentrate on them. Really grateful for everyone's thoughts, it helped.

Jasmine yes I think we will look at Bristol.

robin64 - don't be put off by the competition for Vet school. They have to dream big and at least try for what they want? The wise thing is to have a back up plan if Vet school doesn't come off. S
Its a shame not to even put your cap in the ring though?
