West London Free School

My son has been offered a musical scholarship to West London Free School, for Sept 2018. Obviously we are thrilled. I immediately looked up the reviews on Mumsnet and they are all so very different that I'm now worried. Is the teaching good? Is there bullying? Are the children happy and doing well academically? I'd be so grateful if anyone with a child there - or maybe even someone whose child has also won a music scholarship - can let me know about their experiences. Thank you!

Well done to your son. Music places are very hard to get. My child is at WLFS and very happy. I have seen no evidence in the few years we have been there of bullying- issues seem to be dealt with quickly - I know they very on top of cyber bullying. Discipline is good but I wouldn't say over the top and the profile some give the school of being overly strict isn't our experience. I think balance is about tight as we didn't want a place where low level disruption is a constant issue. They expect the pupils to do well and in my DC's year they seem to want to do well. It's not perfect but I'd say gets better all time. The days of a hew pretty chaotic soundin school when first set up I would say are no longer the same and it's a happy place. Music is amazing so your son will benefit from that.
