We've been abroad for 5 years and DS is applying for 6th forms in UK so he can't get any advice from his current school. Can anybody tell me what sort of thing he should be writing on his personal statement please?

Just to check. Your title said UCAS which is university isn't it? But your post said applying to 6th form?

If 6th form is it state or private and college based or school based?

TeenTimesTwo the state 6th Forms in our area have a UCAS application whereas the private schools you apply to directly.

Oh, I didn't know they did that too.

In Hants it's all colleges pretty much, and the pupils apply to each one directly. They need a personal statement with their application but it is more for a) practice and b) to make sure they aren't applying for daft choices. (e.g. say in PS they want to be a vet but then taking humanities A levels). So very different from a PS you would need for university applications.

TheVanguardSix would you mind sharing with my dd as well, please?

Yes it's for state 6th forms and I've no idea why we have to go through this rigmorole for A levels Grin If anyone has any bright ideas 're personal statement please share!
