Y8 maths-how do you find the perimeter of a shape when you only know the area?

DS2 Y8 maths-2 shapes, one a T and the other a Z shape. He’s given the area and asked to find the perimeter. He’s stuck and I can’t remember. 😳😳 Help!

Can you post a picture of the question because that sounds a bit weird without further info?

Thanks NobleGiraffe, I’ve just heard back from DH after sending it to him (he’s away) and he’s explained that as they are made up of individual squares, I needed to work out the area of each square by dividing total area by amount of squares and from that I then know length of side of each square by square rooting. Then add up sides around the irregular shapes.
Hope that makes sense. Thanks for offering help but I think we’re sorted. Y8 is about my cusp. I don’t even pretend to be able to help Y10 DS1. Blush I’m sure if far more complicated that I needed for GCSE.
