My dd sat the 11 plus but did not complete the exam due to illness. dd managed to finish the first paper but not the second. Does that mean that her score is only for the paper she sat or do they average the score? I am trying to work out how she well or
Not she did

We were told that if the child couldn’t make the test due to illness to phone in on the day and they could re sit it asap once well

Did you say in the day that she was ill ? What did the examiners say would happen?

Hi pizzalover2011

Did she not do the second paper at all or just not complete it? If the former I would think that they would only use the first completed paper score but the other would be scored at 0 (or marks out of the % of paper she completed if she did do some of paper two). Pretty sure they don't average out scores the way you're suggesting though (sounds wishful thinking).

You would probably have been better off not letting her sit the 11+ exam at all and getting a doctor's note (which would have enabled her to sit at a later date when well)?

I think these days proof of illness has to be demonstrated 'up front' rather than retrospectively, to be taken into consideration.
