Actually not sure that is the right word. Dd might get into local grammar but when we went to the open day we were underwhelmed. No worries. Went to local comp. loved it. But catchment has shrunk dramatically and we fall outside now. Ok, go to see closest school, well inside catchment and like it but for some reason they are now moving to a lottery system. So we are no longer close to a school operating a catchment area and most other places are a lottery. Dd is still in year 5 but I don't think we could move in time for next year's deadline even if we could afford to. I have lived here all my life and am despondent.

You have to use all of the options on the CAF and genuinely rank them in your order of preference. If you then get a school you are not happy with , accept the place and ask to go on the waiting list for one of your higher preference schools.

The whole system is so stressful and totally feel your pain!
