I don't know Southgate school but our daughter did not thrive at Ashmole, and she struggled to find friends.

I'm sorry to hear that PF what did you do? Did you move her somewhere else?

Yes, we moved her. I am not totally blaming the school: it did not suit her and they are so fixated on results that they couldn't really help beyond a certain point. We live at some distance, unlike most of the kids there who had established friendships already, so this did not help, plus she did not click with the mainly, I believe, Greek Cypriot kids. The school was in the top 200 in the tables which out of 7000 or so is very high.

Hope she's happy now.
Anyone out there with any more info? I would love to know your thoughts...

Not sure if this is still relevant for you but I have 3 children at Southgate and we’ve been delighted with it. Strong head, good behaviour, their books look like they show good progress and most of all, all 3 are happy to go to school. Definitely the strongest co Ed, non selective state option in this area imo. Don’t know Ashmole, it’s a Barnet school and catchment is tight.
