Does anyone know anything about this? I noticed something about this on their website last year but there's nothing on there now.

There was a long thread on this on the elevenplusexams forum. PettsWoodParadise's daughter goes to Newstead and is well informed on this issue. Perhaps PM him/her?

Many thanks, MrsPatmore, I'll try and find it. Talking to a current parent would be very useful.

Latest letter to parents sent last week say it is being finalised next month. They will also be involved in recruiting the new head when Mr Webb resigns. They also talk of 'exciting' collaborations with one of the selective independents in the MAT.

Sorry that should say 'retire' not resign!

Astronotus · 19/09/2017 22:38

Oh, many thanks PWP. They're not merging with the independent, are they?

No, just becoming part of the MAT which has independents and state schools. The Independent school they mention is some distance away so can’t see much happening on a day to day level, but suspect it may be sharing teaching practices but that is just supposition.

Ok, thanks. Is the head retiring, I didn't think he was that old?

Yes retiring, says the letter. He originally didn’t want to take on the role of Head as he knew that was his plan in a few years so he thought it better they found someone else but they couldn’t at the time so he stepped in. Haven’t a clue how successful they’ll be in finding a replacement what with a major shortage of Heads etc, but only time will tell. There seems good members in the rest of the leadership team and heads of year etc and no shortages of staff elsewhere.
