I know theres a better way of phrasing it but my mind has gone blank.

Is there any way i can find out the distance that the last child admitted to secondary school lives from the school? We live 0.6 mile from the only good secondary school in a town of 6, though none are nothing spectacular, so im just wondering if that woukd have been enough for the past couple of years.

Thanks Tiggy I know I'm we're in the 2nd to last category, but no places were offered in the last category. My category is distance Smile

Our local authority has that info on the school admissions outcomes page. iirc it's the furthest distance a place was offered on offer day so in reality people are likely to have been admitted from further away if they were on the waiting list and get in.

OP, be aware that Councils generally publish the last distance offered on National Offer Day, rather than the last distance from the waiting list before the start of term. It's worth you phoning them and asking for both distances so you get a sense of how much the waiting lists move in your area. If a lot of children drop out of the system to go private then they can move by quite a long way.
