can someone please explain the points column on gcse results please?
I have tried googling but I am none the wiser.

Do you mean the number next to the grade which is usually the marks or UMS marks?

It could be raw score, ums or out of 100. Each board presents info differently.

dd has the old points up to and 8 for an A*. Here's a new points calculator www.seevic-college.ac.uk/media/918749/how-to-calculate-your-gcse-points.pdf Is it that?

I'm not really sure what the point (ha!) of them is - some of the colleges around here make 6th form offers based on GCSE points rater than specific subject offers. I don't know if they have any purpose beyond that.
