6th form drama

Our DS is just about to go into year 10 and has always enjoyed doing amateur dramatics outside of school but he has just announced that he wants to go to drama school for 6th form. He has heard about the BRIT school but we are under no illusions he is unlikely to get in, also it isn't close to us.

He is currently at a grammar school so we are keen that he keeps his academic grades up also in 6th form so we are more now looking at schools that have a good drama department and do it at A level.

What schools in north Kent/south east London area have good drama departments? We will consider both state and private schools.

If he does Drama A level, it is possible to apply for Drama schools at 18. EG Guildhall, RADA, Central etc. Lots of girls I know have done this but have not been to the Brit School.

Check the Good Schools Guide for best Drama departments. My DDs old girls' school (independent) is mentioned as one, but there must be a boys' equivalent!

.... And I thought this was going to be a white knuckle ride of a thread about the escapades of the sixth form common room! Grin

Sorry op nothing useful to add but hope he finds somewhere suitable.
