Dd did really really well..very proud of her!
A* in all subjects and a 8 in English language

Can someone explain if it is 8 then is it aA?it is AQA board and got 120 and to get an A then she needs to have 123- is it worth remarking it?thats what the school said..

DD has reported back: she got 8,8,7, 4xA*, 2xA and a B.
Three of the grades were a grade higher than expected/predicted and three were lower so it's evened out overall Smile. She's already signed up at 6th form. Very proud of her Smile. I'm off to have a Brew and Cake.

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2017 11:40

Madhairy, DS has a very unexpected B for RE too, I wonder whether it's everywhere?

Madhairday · 24/08/2017 11:42

Prof Layton - 8 is an A. 9 is kind of more A*

titchy · 24/08/2017 11:43

Any advice on remarks? Can you ask for a copy of the script before committing to having it remarked? AQA physics if that makes a difference.

MrsK · 24/08/2017 11:43

Feeling super proud & very emotional.

DD got a mix of A & A*, a 5 in maths (thank God we were praying for a pass) & a 9 in English Lit. It's been a tough few years & some mh problems a long the way. So am immensely proud of her.

Good luck to everyone for the future

Madhairday · 24/08/2017 11:43

Oh that's interesting Bertrand, he was A* material too wasn't he if I recall correctly? Not sure what DDS mark was yet. She's astounded because she thought the exam was ok. Too cocky it seems! But she's over performed in all others so we are thrilled. How did Ds get on with the rest?

DietingAgain · 24/08/2017 11:47

Some fab results here, well done to all.
No chance of reconsidering for her school 6th form, but her 2nd choice college is fab. I think it will be good for her once she's got over leaving her much loved school, friends and teachers.
Hope the sadness doesn't last too long!

Tiredemma · 24/08/2017 11:52

DS1 did awful in his Mocks (E' s and D's) but has clawed his way up to 6Bs, 1C a D and an E (ignore the last two!). He isn't very academic but was really fortunate to have been given a Sports Scholarship at an Independent School in 2014. I know he really struggled through his GCSEs so am so pleased to see that he got these Bs.

He didn't get the 2 As needed to stay in his current school 6th Form but I think on balance its the right thing for him. He is in a Rugby Academy and I don't think he would have coped well with the ongoing academic pressure at that school and his Rugby commitments.

Just looking for an alternative option now for 6th Form but I think this will be a BTec in a sports related subject.

Well done to everyone!!!

PeskyRat · 24/08/2017 11:53

DS did much, much better than he was anticipating, he's particularly happy with his 7 in Eng Lang. He's done enough to get into the 6th Form he wanted and we are just so glad it's all over. So very proud of him. Good luck to all your DC.

Hulababy · 24/08/2017 11:54

7 is an A
8 and 9 are A*
Only top 2-3% sitting the exam will get a 9 so it's the really top end of an A star

Happy to say dd got half As and half Bs, an 8 in Maths, and 2x5 English, which is excellent for her, considering the dyslexia and terrible absence of English teachers in year 11. She's OK for her preferred A levels.

Having said that, the school should be ashamed - Grammar school, top set English - they were warned by all the parents in dd's English set that this would happen. There will be some very angry parents. I'm settling for relief that she got the 5s that most universities will require.

Another celebratory Brew hot chocolate with all the trimmings to goingtobe Fantastic results

Well done to so many of your dcs, especially those who were coping with adversity, and best wishes for those with disappointed dcs.

Ontopofthesunset · 24/08/2017 12:03

9 A and 2 A - a little disappointed with A for Maths (IGCSE) so we might check the grade boundaries later, but he expected A for Drama. But overall very pleased as got A for all sciences as well as all A level choices. And he was a lazy, late reviser so I'm very relieved.

ifonly4 · 24/08/2017 12:04

At long last we have the results, 2 A*s, 1 8, 2 7s, 4 As, 2 Bs.

There was pressure on here as she has a music scholarship but still needed the minimum entry requirements and As in her chosen A level subjects, as well as high grade in maths.

She 2 marks off an A in French - apparently school are having papers remarked as results are well below predicted grades.subjects. Overall she's done slightly better than forecast, so we couldn't have asked for more.

I know there's been a few ups and downs on this thread this morning, but I hope wherever they end up, it works out well for them.

booellesmum · 24/08/2017 12:09

Just paid the £42 for history remark as 3 points off A*.
Personally I'm happy with the A but she's not. Oh well.

Showandtell · 24/08/2017 12:11

Congratulations to all your Dc. If they didn't get the grades for A levels please don't discount the BTEC level 3 diploma at college Smile

Elendon · 24/08/2017 12:11

Mixed bag for my son. He got an A, 2Bs, and four Cs. Failed two (one very borderline). But overall a great result for him (very disappointed to have failed in the borderline). Trying now to sort out his options for 6th form.

Good luck to everyone and big hugs for those who need further options now.

rainbowjoy · 24/08/2017 12:11

Really pleased here
A* maths (Igcse) history physics
A chemistry biology DT classical civilisation
C. Spanish

  1. English lit (Romeo Juliet paper)
  2. English Lang

Thinking of getting English Language reviewed as only 2 marks off 5 but not sure yet

Elendon · 24/08/2017 12:12

His borderline fail was in History booellesmum should I do that too?

LittleHo · 24/08/2017 12:14

Maths and English Lit - 9
English Lang - 8

Overall eight A*, two A's and a B.

Really happy.

LIZS · 24/08/2017 12:17

Dd A* and As, bit disappointed but some rogue papers in less secure subjects and narrow grade boundaries. Struggling to make sense of the AQA conversion of ums to raw score!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 24/08/2017 12:18

Bit of a nerve wracking wait in the car when dd went in for hers. Especially when a friend of hers came out saying they'd failed every one, getting a u for welsh.

She didn't want to open them until she got in the car. But bumped into the head teacher who congratulated her on having done well.

She is pleased.
A*s in history, chemistry, maths and religious studies.

As in numeracy, English language, geography, biology, physics, Welsh and the skills challenge (no clue what that is)

Thought it said D in further maths, but that means distinction so A/A* equivalent.

And level 2 in Welsh Bac and Preparing for work courses. Which is highest they could get.

She's still gutted about her B in England language, but they did them a year ago.

They sat maths and numeracy early, so then bombarded them with random other qualifications.

JufusMum · 24/08/2017 12:18

DD gained a level 5 English Literature sitting it a year early in year 10 aged just 14 (not her choice) so she is very pleased. Six marks off level 6 but teacher advised against a remark . Well done to everyone else's DC's
