Mixing A levels and btecs

Planning alternatives for dd who bombed her AS levels. Her current 6th form has said she can retake year 12. She was excited about doing Btec sport but I've just seen it's a certificate rather than an extended diploma Sad think this means she'll have to combine with A levels?

Most of my BTEC students do a mix, but the minimum BTEC they do is the Ext Cert, with most doing the Dip.

For my students it does help them having this mix; most of this year's cohort were given unconditional offers

Our a level students don't mix. Why did she bomb? Can she do a full btec elsewhere? The coursework element may suit her more.

Btw unconditional offers are quite common now for our students too. Also very common for full btec students.

I'm hoping there are places left at a good college near us for full Btec extended diploma.
