Has anyone any ideas where i can find black school trousers for tall boys, preferably slim or skinny fit? The inside leg is 33" and the waist is 29/30.

M&S had the perfect ones, but they sold out and I've been checking for a week but they haven't come back into stock. do you know if there is anywhere else that does school uniform for boys who are well over 5ft 10 (i.e. more than 178cm)?

Trutex are better for unusual sizes. Suspect I will be in the same territory soon the way DS is growing! They do 30/34.

Ceefax101 · 17/08/2017 12:45

Have you looked at m&s online? I probably buy the ones you mean too. My DS is 12 and nearly 6ft. The only other success we've had apart from m&s is looking on eBay. He likes slim fitting ones too. I need to sort out all the m&s black ones he's grown out of, they're too short now.

George at ASDA slimfil worksformy skinny and tall 11 year old.

DramaInPyjamas · 17/08/2017 13:12

I was about to suggest the M&S skinny, extra long ones, they have the adjustable waist thingy too, but I see you've already tried there,
they sell out so fast I've been looking online for them since early June and they've not been in stock once

Nishky · 17/08/2017 13:12

Oops. Came on here to say M and S. sorry

swampster · 17/08/2017 13:18

Next are brilliant for tall skinnies. I don't bother looking anywhere else for uniform any more.

swampster · 17/08/2017 13:23

Just looked at Next and they may just go to 176 cm…

On Amazon, David Luke Slim Fit Senior trousers - Black, Navy, Charcoal and Grey. Waist sizes from 26-42inches.

mywayalltheway · 17/08/2017 13:41

What about Next.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 17/08/2017 13:43

I remember my ds was similar. 28 waist, 34 leg. I used to get him work trousers from Asda. They were about 10 quid then l think(8 or 9 years ago)

mmzz · 17/08/2017 15:26

As well as M&S, I've tried Next, Asda, Sainsburys and they all seem to think school boys don't grow beyond 5'9".
I have also sent a message via twitter to M&S to ask if the advice I got in the shop about checking daily online was likely to be good, or if i am just wasting the chance of finding them elsewhere. Hopefully, they will reply soon....

DramaInPyjamas - if you've been looking since June, then maybe I am wasting my time with M&S?

I just tried asda men's - the 30" waist only comes in regular length (i.e. 31" inside leg whereas i need the long - 33" but they only offer that for 32" waist upwards).

Primark??

First time on the primark website just now - wow! what a bad website!
They tell you prices but not sizing

I feel your pain Op, DS1 is 30" waist and 36" leg which is almost impossible to find.

Next do longer length which is about 33" in a 30" waist, you just need to look at adult black trousers but they are about £15-20 so not too £££

clary · 17/08/2017 17:39

It's daft tho, why are boys/men (DS is 18) allowed to be tall but only if they are broader too? Plenty of 36" legs but the waist starts at 32 or even 34" grrrr

mmzz · 17/08/2017 18:05

The worst part of it is that these trousers are only to cover year 9! What am i going to do when he is in year 11?!

mmzz · 17/08/2017 18:07

I'll take the tip about the Next mens though. Ds will only wear black and they need not to be too wide, or he feels like the odd one out now that skinny leg is in fashion.

coldflange · 17/08/2017 18:08

I used to buy DS (waist 30" inside leg 33") trousers from M&S, usually online or Burtons.

It's not an easy size to find

Just in case anyone ever finds this thread when googling to solve the same problem:

In the end, the answer was M&S. I learned that the stores get a certain amount of stock, and that the longer and XL lengths stock doesn't really get replenished. The staff in store will tell you to check the website, but that's bad advice as new stock rarely appears there.
The solution is to use the "find it in a UK store" option that's under the "add to bag" on the product page. Or call the head office and they'll tell you what the nearest store that has it is (but in my case it was 80 miles away). Then call the store to reserve it for collection.

We had/have a similar problem - ds is now 6'6" with a 28" waist (actually measures 26" but 28" doesn't fall down) with a 38" leg.

He's now out of school uniform so thankfully don't have to try to find school trousers for him. We now get all his stuff from a website called 2tall.com where all the stuff is specifically designed for tall, skinny men/boys unlike most 'big and tall' ranges which assume that if you're tall you're also wide... (I have no connection with the company but pray they don't go out of business any time soon ...)
