I am an ex-teacher and MSc Forensic Psychology student and I am seeking volunteers to take part in my research study in which I am designing a new questionnaire which will explore the topic of perceptions of violence within schools. If you are interested in taking part you can click on the link below where you will first be given some more information about the study to help you decide if you want to take part. If you agree to continue you will be asked to complete a questionnaire which should take around 20 minutes.

I feel this research is very worthwhile and for a good cause.

With best wishes and thanks,
Chris

Done.

My answers may be outside the norm as I'm a college governor tasked with dealing with poor behaviour in school. My dd has also experienced a sexual assault at school by another pupil so again my responses may seem more extreme than perhaps is standard. In any case I hope you will find my responses useful in your research.

@Reinette. That's fine. It's important to get as many opinions as possible. Sorry to hear about your dd and hope she is doing better. All the best, Chris.

Done!

mummytime · 09/08/2017 12:31

Done - but I really don't know that it is any different from when I was at school (I tried to express that in my answers)

iseenodust · 09/08/2017 12:53

Just want to say I take a 'physical' definition of violence which does not mean that other behaviours are in any way acceptable, I would just use different categorisations. (Coming from a background of dealing with similar in professional capacity.)

Maybe would have been an idea to ask where people live in terms of city centre/suburban/rural as suspect will have direct impact on perceptions eg on references to gang culture, victims being taught in same setting (maybe desirable but impossible in rural area).

I tried but the pedant in me gave up. A number of questions are around whether xxx violence should include non-physical acts in its scope. To me, violence is physical by definition so non-physical aggressive, abusive or bullying activities can't be included, even though they can be every bit as damaging as physical attacks.

@mummytime: Thank you for completing q/aire.
@ASauvignonAday: Thanks a lot for finishing!
@iseenodust: Thank you very much for your comments.I appreciate the feedback and take your points on board. I suppose the main thing to say is that the questionnaire is experimental, not meant to be "perfect" and is designed to measure people's perceptions - even to the point of definitions. For those reasons, I realise some of the questions are a bit difficult to answer.
@HerOtherHalf: As above and no worries. Thank you for your interest.

All the best,
Chis
