Hey, this is my first talk thread so please excuse any mishaps! My daughter is reapplying for United World Colleges (UWC) this year, but her confidence in her abilities has slipped suddenly. She has always been interested in international events (used to steal my husband's TIME magazines to read!) and does lots of stuff in school, but she's never done anything international, like trips or volunteering abroad (we've never been able to afford it and her school has a slightly elitist way of picking students for any trips). She's on school council, was her classes charity rep and elected school green rep and has done MUN and does CCF and Explorers, as well as volunteer at an Oxfam shop. Personally she's done a lot more stuff than I did at her age, but she's been online and talked to other applicants and now feels a lot more down about her chances.
Can anyone give some insight on the type of people they're looking for and their experience with the applications etc? She what her chances are, she was rejected last year but she was so determined and that's now just gone :(
