908Mum a coat hanger rail is a very bizarre item to have to bring. Are you sure it does n't mean coat hangers (which may be needed depending on the house)? If it really says rail just email the housemaster or matron to check what they mean.
In my DS's house they have a lockable cupboard next to their desk (mugging hall for the first two years) for storing valuables including food treats so he never took or needed a lockable box. If it is suggested for the house and your DS has n't one then try Wild's sports shop where from where you order the sport kit store.wilds.co.uk/wc-tuckbox.

You do not need to buy books before he starts. That will be sorted out by the boys and teachers when needed and blue billed (added to the next term's fees).
