Secondary teachers: What would you like as an end of term gift?

We don't usually get to respond to these threads (who's envious of primary teachers and their mountain of chocolates and cards?) so here's one for us.

I would like not to be taken for cover for a tutor group 'party' on the last day of term. Or any cover in the last week, tbh.

I would like for Y9 to be on a surprise trip that I didn't know about and an unexpected free.

YY to both of those (though I'm not yet expected to do cover). And for someone the head to just admit that the time after whole-school end-of-year exams is a write-off and we can just show them videos.

Sleep. Lots and lots of sleep

noblegiraffe · 14/07/2017 20:07

Sleep would be good!

I'm also hoping for a timetable of nice-looking sets with no 'names' on the classlists.

Lol yy to year 9 being on a trip, mine are not doing my subject next year and we are all fed up.

Also my form to be biddable and quiet just for this last week :)

I got Year 7 tutor cover on the last day of term 😡 Clearly I must have pissed someone off to deserve that!

Best end of term gift ever was from a Year 9 tutee if was a giant bar of dairy milk chocolate and a nice bottle of wine - simple but just what I needed!

noblegiraffe · 15/07/2017 19:39

I haven't got a tutor group so could well be taken for cover at the last minute. I've done a couple of favours for the cover lady in the last couple of weeks so hopefully she'll look on me kindly and take someone else. Last time I had a tutor cover on a 'party' day they tried to convince me that their tutor had promised that they could watch Woman in Black. 'It's a 12!'. Er, no. I'm 39 and I don't want to watch it.

My new tutor group are seemingly lovely so will take that as a gift. Good job because all of my y8/9/10 sets contain way too many names for comfort 😳

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 15/07/2017 21:42

Do Secondary teachers ever get gifts? I've just bought a box of M&S chocolate biscuits for Year 9 ds's form tutor to share with anyone else that has the misfortune to teach my 'spirited' ds. Will I look like a sycophantic twat?

I'd like a fucking timetable before we break up.

I'd also like the little shite who told me to fuck off last week and has had no consequences at all to have a minor but painful accident...

Gomango · 15/07/2017 22:13

Little shite who told you to piss off - minor accident for those responsible for no consequences too please.

Treats for all the good kids for a change a good idea too instead of all the rewards for piss poor 'good behaviour' thugs.
