Secondary Schools in Leamington Spa

After many years living abroad I will be returning to the UK in a few months time. I will be working in Rugby but from a bit of research I think Leamington Spa seems like the best for DS who is about to enter Year 7 and the rest of the family. I realise joining part way through Y7 isn't ideal and may limit our options but it seems all schools in the area are at a reasonable level and even the historically poorer schools seems to be on the up. He is currently studying at abroad at a private school on the british curriculum but we wont be able to consider independent schools unfortunately. I would appreciate any advice on whether my analysis is correct about the local schools and the availability of places in Year 7. Equally if you would suggest another location as a good choice we are open to suggestions.

My eldest is starting Myton in September - it seems to be best chance for us for it meeting his needs.
Only way you can really tell is by taking a look round.
All offers are published so you could see where has spaces - personally I'd look at North Leam, Myton and Trinity (having trawled them all last year 😁)

Thanks for the feedback, North Leam or Myrton are probably first choices. I was just wondering if there was a reason Campion is not on your list?

Campion isn't known to be a good school. Their intake is a difficult one due to where the school is.
Rugby is a lovely place to live though, and has really good schools. Lawrence Sherrif is the boys grammar and it's part run by Rugby School. Ashlawn and Avon Valley both have good reputations too, both are comprehensive. Leamington is a gorgeous place to live but VERY expensive to get into catchment for Myton or North Leam.
